HOW TO HAVE FUN WITH THESE PAGES!

While there is merit to using coloring programs directly on computer, coloring these pages in a printed on-demand format encourages family or classroom participation and most of all hard copy “refrigerator art”! Coloring is a tactile and mobile learning tool. Crayons and markers are suggested, but depending on available paper, painting with water-based paints is a definite possibility.

This activity and these printed pages help provide a simple and gradual invitation to younger age groups (4 to 7 years) to step up to the Boating Safety “Sidekicks” Activity Book. Children from 8 to 14 years have formally (classroom) and casually (on their own) learned the merits of boating safety from this publication. The act of seeing and coloring cartoon characters may not bear an explicit safety message. But the repeat exposure of seeing these characters wearing life jackets and reading the text can create an early link to recognizing what’s necessary to boat safely. While we can suggest the course (no boating pun intended) for you to take, our main objective is for children to have fun while they learn.
